A Beautiful Day in February

Simply gorgeous out today, so we headed to the Olympic Sculpture Park. It's one of those places that reminds me how beautiful our home is.

Mushrooms.

Sophie loves 'em. Preferrably sauteed in butter, but raw is fine, too. Other parents of toddlers, read no further! Sophie also eats peas by the handful, lettuce with a sprinkle of kosher salt, mows through green beans raw or cooked, and requests broccoli often. The broccoli we beg her patience to wait while we steam it, as it takes her ten minutes to chew up the raw flowers! Elle adore les legumes!

New Table!

Brian, in his woodworking genius, has fashioned a table for Sophie. And Nora, as you see here. It is yellow, fantastic, and supplies the space for all sorts of crafty projects.
And snacks.
Lots of snacks.

Ecole francaise!

Already February, and what have we been up to? Well, mostly... school! Sophie started at Les Enfants de Seattle, a french immersion preschool just down the hill from us in January, and she absolutely LOVES it! Since last May, Sophie has been attending an in-home french immersion daycare with Veronique, whom we met by chance. Sophie loved going to her two mornings a week. In the late fall, Veronique was offered a position at Les Enfants, and we decided to follow her there! Sophie is in the Petite Section with Effie (whom we know from Vio's Cafe from WAY back!), but sees Veronique often throughout the day. Here are some photos. La Directrice, Antointette and her daughter;

Le Grand Salon.
Today we are celebrating Mardi Gras at the school. Here is Sophie in the mask she decorated!
And here are the quilt pieces laid out for the quilts I made for the Mardi Gras Fundraiser the night before, made from shapes the kids glued together at school.
